A recent professional staff headshot shoot where a company needed 8 of their staff photographed. This included two different headshots for their manager with a change of background between everyones images.
Initial contact, headshot style match with Australia based team:
The contact started with them sharing some example images which had been captured for their Australian based team. They wanted to work in with the style of these for their Auckland based staff.
The Ellerslie offices offered a variety of staff headshot background options. I chose the boardroom, kitchen, and staff dining areas, ensuring a diverse range of backgrounds that complemented each other.
The boardroom headshots:
The first setup was in the boardroom simply because that was where I had stored my equipment. 🙂 At the beginning of the shoot it was raining quite heavily outside so I had to drop the shutter speed to get enough light for the windows. I setup two lights on the subject and one on the back wall of the boardroom, cleaning up the available light and balancing the headshot.
Moving the camera slightly to the right and bringing in a plant enabled me to use the same space and create a different feel in the first of the managers two headshots.
And just a slight change of angle for the third persons headshot in this direction.

In the other direction the white wall, window outlook, and painting give a completely different feel to the two other headshots captured in the boardroom.
Next headshot setup space, the kitchen
My next location was the kitchen, luckily not right in the middle of the company lunch break, but there was still a couple of people coming and going for their coffee or tea fix.
For this location I used two lights to clean up and balance the background of the image and one on the subject. This gives the headshot a flattering light on the subjects face and a background the is clean and balanced.
Last setup location
The last location was on the edge of the dining area with the camera looking back in. Behind the camera was some of the office desks etc. Again two lights were used to clean up the background, and one light on the subject for flattering light across the face.
