Types of Headshot photography I offer in Auckland

Environmental headshots

Captured at your workplace, outdoors, on location, or even at your home this style of headshot blurs the background of the image while keeping the person sharp. By including a background behind the person this style tells more of a story and depending on the area used to capture the headshot helps to convey the industry they work in, or give an initial impression on their personality or professionalism. What ever it is you want your headshot to say choose a background that is going to help with this. If you are unsure I am able to help steer you in the right direction and help choose a location that will link in with your headshot goals.

Benefits of environmental headshots

  • they tell more of a story due to the background information behind the person
  • less space is needed compared to studio style headshots
  • environmental headshots often feel more real because they have a more candid feel
  • with the right environment environmental headshots can elevate the viewers perception of the subject

Studio style Auckland headshot photography – setup at your location

Studio style headshots are a cleaner option with the person photographed in front of a plain background with a colour of your choice. White background is a popular option if you are planning to remove the background later, or change the background which is explained in this blog post about the process. Headshots with changeable backgrounds You can also use the headshots as they are with the plain background giving you multiple options to use across different areas of your marketing.

I bring a background roll system and studio lighting to you and setup in a clear space roughly 4x5m which often for companies ends up being a meeting room or boardroom but can be anywhere that has the space. This saves large companies from having their staff away from the office which reduces staff downtime.

How do professional headshots help you and your business in Auckland?

  • Make the best first impression you can. A good headshot introduces you online in the best possible way, starting new conversations with trust and credibility already locked in.
  • Improve online presence. Its not just a photo, its part of your story and often the first time someone sees you and forms their initial first impression of you.
  • Create a feeling of team strength. Consistent team headshots across a company displayed on an “about us” or “meet the team” page make you look like just that, a team.
  • Trust. A good headshot helps potential customers feel they know you and that they can trust in your ability to deliver for them. Before they have even met you, now thats amazing.
  • Differentiation. Stand out in crowded industries and get noticed by people looking for your services.

How my headshots sessions normally run

I normally capture between 20-40 images per person to make sure I have a good selection of angles and expression for you to choose from for retouching. Once all images are captured I send low resolution versions through to you the same day so you can make retouching choices from them. People find its easier to see them a little larger and also you can ask other people for their opinions at home or work.

Retouching of your selected headshot

Once you have chosen your images for retouching I work on these selections in detail, the end images are still realistic but polished versions of the originals.

My normal retouching process includes:

  • whitening and brightening the eyes and teeth,
  • reducing any lines or darkness around the eyes,
  • smoothing out the skins complexion such as red areas,
  • dulling down any hots spots or reflections on the skin from light reflections,
  • some gentle skin smoothing if needed,
  • stray hairs tidied up,

If theres anything else you need adjusting just ask and I can probably work this into the process.
