This is a great option for business portraits where multiple or changeable backgrounds are needed. The portraits are first captured against a white background. The white background is then removed from the image so other backgrounds can be inserted. This can give a variety of different looks using only the one portrait captured per person. The company has the standard white background portrait they can use, but also the option to insert different backgrounds to the portraits to completely change them.
A recent business portrait example completed with two different backgrounds.
Here are a couple of examples I completed recently for a company in Auckland. The background images which were changed from the white background were captured from their offices of the Auckland Harbour bridge and the landscape surrounding it.
Heres the original portraits captured in their offices against a white background. I setup the background and lighting equipment in their boardroom so the staff are only away from work for a short time.
The company wanted one background inserted which had a normal colour tone to it. They then needed the background changed to one which had a slightly blue, darker hue to match their company colour scheme.
What are the benefits of multiple background portraits for businesses
The benefits of having portraits with changeable background options for businesses are:
- For companies no matter the size and/or geographical spread, all staff portraits can have the same background. This is the case even if the staff are in different locations/countries, or have joined the company at different times.
- Often portraits captured using direct sun light are not pleasing due to the harsh sharp quality of direct sunlight. The portraits in this method are captured inside with studio lights giving the best most pleasing lighting across the face, but then can have an outdoors background placed behinds them to make it look like the portrait was taken outdoors.
- Portraits can have a sunny outdoors background even when the weather on the day of the shoot is poor. This reduces the need for re-bookings due to poor weather and wasted staff downtime.
- Portraits of all the staff in a company, no matter when they joined can have the same look to keep the “team” or “about us page” on your website looking tidy and consistent.
- The portraits with the white background can also be used for other areas of the businesses marketing. They slot in well with many documents allowing the document contents to merge with the portraits. You can even just change the colour of the background if needed to match in with a websites or documents colour scheme.
- There is normally one portrait that people like the best of themselves. It might be their expression, or just the overall feel of the image. This favourite portrait can be used across all of the changeable backgrounds and areas of your markeitng.
More examples of portraits with changeable backgrounds I have created for my business clients
These are just a few of the portraits which were captured for a company client. They were captured over many different months. As the company grew they moved offices so the portraits were captured in different offices yet they all have the same backgrounds and feel. No one would ever know they weren’t all captured in the same place at the same time.
The client wanted a range of backgrounds for their business portraits. Because of this I captured a bunch of different background images for them and created a variety of portraits using these images as changeable backgrounds. All are created from the same white background captures created in their offices. They occasionally change the portraits on their marketing to keep their content fresh.
Hopefully you can see this method of business portraits with changeable backgrounds has a lot of advantages. It really has worked a treat for my clients.
